Insurance Programs

The Health Insurance Information Program provides information to help guide you in making decisions regarding your health insurance options.

   Medicare A - Medicare Part A is designed to pay part of the costs of: Inpatient hospital care; related health care provided by skilled nursing facilities; home health care; and hospice care.

   Medicare B - Medicare Part B is designed to help pay for: Physicians' services received as an inpatient or outpatient; additional medical services such as outpatient or emergency hospital care; therapy services; ambulance transportation; and equipment and supplies.

   Supplementing Medicare Insurance -You may choose to obtain more comprehensive health insurance coverage because: Medicare was never designed to pay all the health care costs of the elderly; Medicare coverage has not kept pace with the rising costs of medical care; Medicare cost-sharing provisions have risen steadily since 1965; Medicare coverage has many gaps; and deductibles increase every year.

   Supplemental Insurance Comparisons - Information and rates supplied by participating insurers to help you compare the costs associated with supplementing your Medicare plans.

   Supplemental Insurance Comparison Form (pdf) - A simple form designed to help you sort through the complexities of comparing one insurance company's rates to another.

   Medicaid - Medicaid pays for medical service for people who are low-income or who have medical costs higher than their monthly income.

   Home and Community Based Waivers - Waivers that provide certain groups of clients enhanced medical benefits designed to help them stay at home rather than be institutionalized.

   Qualified Medicare Beneficiary Program - A program that pays ALL costs associated with Medicare for those who qualify. This program pays: Medicare premiums for Hospital, (Part A), and Medical Insurance, (Part B); the yearly deductible for Medicare Hospital, (Part A), and Medical Insurance, (Part B); and the Medicare co-payment.

   Specified Low-Income Medicare Beneficiary Program- A program that pays the Medicare Part B insurance premiums for those who qualify.

   Long Term Care Insurance - Privately contracted insurance to protect the individual from financial ruin should they find that they are unable to care for themselves because of a prolonged illness or disability. The products and benefits allow for home care, assisted living care, and day care, as well as nursing home care.
